LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR

Greetings:

Thank you for your interest in the Colorado Film School. As you peruse this website, I hope you will see that we have an excellent and unique film program.

The Colorado Film School offers fully accredited Certificate Programs, Associates and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees. Graduate level programs are currently under development. We have an excellent faculty of working professionals who practice what they teach. The cities of Denver and Aurora offer a rich and varied cultural setting, and our famous mountains and ski resorts are only an hour away. The Starz Denver International Film Festival brings hundreds of films and filmmakers from around the world each fall. The John and Anna Sie Foundation Visiting Artists program brings film industry luminaries onto our campus and into our classrooms each semester.

Our brand new facilities will compare favorably with any film school in the world. Our central building is a contemporary production facility that features millions of dollars of technology. Our primary sound stage has a high-end lighting grid and board, broadcast cameras, and a cyclorama. Our three edit labs have 65 G5 and G4 dual processor edit stations all networked at gigabit speed. A film-style production studio with 10K and 5K "big eye" lights and sets are in a nearby building. We support Super 16mm, 16mm, HD, HDV, Digital Beta, Beta SP, DVcam, and DV formats with the full complement of production cameras, decks, and supporting equipment that gives us our "hands-on" reputation.

As a school we have aided in the production of three feature films, one of which aired extensively on Showtime, as we believe that the best way to learn is by doing. Just as a medical school needs to run a hospital in order to train doctors, the Colorado Film School needs to be actively engaged in original productions so that our faculty can model the professional activity we teach.

Please compare our facilities, faculty, infrastructure, curriculum, cost, mission, and the quality of our student work to any film school in the world. I am confident that you will find us to be the best-equipped, student-oriented program around.

We are actively seeking imaginative students who are focused, energetic, ambitious, and eager to hone their professional skills for entry into a highly competitive field. We are the new and rising force in film/video education, and we challenge you to join us!

-Frederic
