LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
"There was a time not long ago, when prospective film students looking for the finest, immersive hands-on education - with access to top-of-the-line equipment, sound stages, postproduction facilities and world class faculty - had only a few expensive options; it was either New York or Los Angeles with not much in-between. Today,..., superlative programs from around the nation have emerged that rival the preeminent schools of the right and left coasts."
This quote is from the recent (December 2009) issue of International Cinematographers Guild (ICG) magazine. Their feature "Film School Confidential" profiled the Colorado Film School as a top flight institution along with six other schools such as Florida State and Chapman Universities.
We are the only film school that has their students reading and evaluating scripts for International Creative Management (ICM) one of the world's largest talent and literary agencies. Students in our Feature Script Analysis class are vetted by their HR department to provide agency "coverage" of in-house and outside projects. In fact, we have just established two summer internship positions at the agency, bumping a prominent Ivy League institution.
The Colorado Film School offers a variety of programs: An Advanced Immersion Program of 60 credits of film/video courses delivered in 11 short months, AAS degrees and certificates with 45 credits of film/video courses delivered over a more conventional academic schedule, and AGS degree programs that articulate into a BS degree at Metro State University or a BFA with five different emphasis areas through Regis University at the Colorado Film School.
Our Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with Regis University creates a seamless, integrated program offered entirely at Colorado Film School facilities. This unique program creates one of the most affordable and focused professional degree programs for students wanting to work in film and media – the language of the global marketplace.
Our students hail from Colorado and many of the states in the union as well as the rest of the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the world. Our hallways and lounges are as important as our classrooms and studios, as this is where our students cluster together to share, inspire, and collaborate on their next projects as they build lifelong friendships.
We have an excellent faculty of working professionals many of whom have terminal MFA's from the finest film schools in the world.
The Denver metro area offers a rich and varied cultural setting, and our famous mountains and ski resorts are only an hour away. The Starz Denver Film Festival brings hundreds of films and filmmakers from around the world each fall, and CFS students are deeply involved in the Vail Film Festival each spring. We have a lively visiting artist roster that grows each semester.
Please compare our facilities, faculty, infrastructure, curriculum, cost, mission, and the quality of our student work to any film school in the world.
We are actively seeking imaginative students who are focused, energetic, ambitious, and eager to hone their professional skills for entry into a highly competitive field. We are the new and rising force in film/video education, and we challenge you to join us!
